It only maintains. It cannot charge a battery. You will require a proper charger for the charging of a battery.

How to use the 5 watt solar panel

Connect via Lighter Socket.

Connect the panel to your 12-volt socket in your vehicle, or  use the battery clamps  connecting to the 12-volt battery. 

You can put the 5 watt solar panel on the dashboard which works very well. You can also make use of the 4 pre-drilled holes for a more permanent installation. 

To ensure optimal power, it is important that the 5 watt solar panel is perpendicular to the sun... 

A good idea is to use the holes and screws to mount it on a frame with adjustable legs. Now you can move it with the sun to get more direct exposure and thus more wattage per day. 

It is not necessary to use a charge controller because the output is way below 15 watts.
